The Right Reverend
Doctor Tim Klerekoper serves as the Bishop Co-adjutor of
the Diocese of Seattle for the Christian Episcopal
Church in the United States and is Rector for the King
of Glory Anglican Parish in Auburn, Washington.
Bishop Klerekoper is the Executive Director of Charteris
Foundation, a private non-profit charitable organization
providing chaplaincy services throughout the Pacific
Northwest. He personally serves as Head Chaplain for
South King County Fire Department and Des Moines Police
Department, where he holds the rank of Major. Tim also
serves as chaplain for King County Sheriff’s Office, Des
Moines Fire Department, and is the Region Nine and Ten
Chaplain for Federal Protective Service, Department of
Homeland Security.
Tim earned his Bachelor's degree
from Whitworth College, a Diploma in Christian Studies
from Regent College, and a Master of Arts and Doctor of
Ministry degree from Faith Evangelical Lutheran
Seminary. Tim also holds an honorary Doctor of
Divinity degree from Trinity Biblical Seminary in
California.
Tim is a member of and
holds a Master’s Certification with the International
Conference of Police Chaplains, and is Board Certified
in traumatic stress by the American Academy of Experts
in Traumatic Stress. In addition to working with police
officers, firefighters, and responding to emergency
scenes, he does individual, marriage, and family
counseling. Tim is an instructor for the California
P.O.S.T. training program, and lectures nationally and
internationally for the International Association of
Chiefs of Police, the International Critical Incident
Stress Foundation, and the International Conference of
Police Chaplains (where he serves as Northwest Regional
Director), and is an Adjunct Seminary Professor,
teaching Crisis Intervention Counseling, Grief and
Bereavement, and Stress-related classes both in the
United States, and overseas.
Tim has been married to
his wife Jan for 27 years, has two boys; Geoffrey (24)
and Trenton (20). He is the proud grandfather
of three grandchildren: Ethany, Talon, and Rayne. He and his family live in Federal
Way, Washington.
Bishop Klerekoper's arms
are blazoned as: Per Pale, In Dexter per Fess
Gules and Azure, a Cross Fluery and four Fluer d'Lis Or
and in Sinister Argent a Lion Gules and in Chief Azure,
three Crosses Crosslet Argent. The crest contains
elements of his personal family arms and the symbols
chosen for the Christian Episcopal Church and the
Diocese of Seattle. Christus apprime is
Bishop Klerekoper's personal motto, which translated
from the Latin means "Christ Above All."
